New BlackBerry From AT&T and Sprint
Sprint and AT&T are planning to offer new BlackBerry Smartphones. These Smartphones will be launched in the latter part of 2011. The 5 new BlackBerry models will run on the BlackBerry 7 OS and not on the QNX software. Research in Motion (RIM) stated that the Smartphones will be 2 Bold and 3 Torch models.
Which New Blackberry Models To Sell?
Three new Verizon Wireless high-end devices were shown in a newly leaked Verizon document that were sent to retailers for guidance on the minimum advertised price, or MAP. The list includes the Motorola Droid Bionic, which was confirmed by Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha to launch in September, the venerable and powerful HTC Vigor, which may succeed the HTC Thunderbolt, and an LG device that so far has yet to be revealed but is speculated to be a successor to the Netflix-enabled LG Revolution.
Interestingly enough, the leaked MAP document reveals the device names, but the screen shot does not reveal the pricing information.
So, Motorola has decided to skip August, and will release the Motorola Droid Bionic in September.
But, can the phone survive the iPhone 5 in September? (If the rumors are legit). Of course, but only if..
Motorola Droid Bionic is a popular phone, who doesn’t know that fact? Dual-core processor, larger than 4 inches screen, Long Term Evolution-equipped and the best part.. it’s a Google Android phone. But can this phone survive the market if Apple will release the iPhone 5 in September too? Yes it can.
The Motorola Droid 3 from Verizon is the latest offering in the Droid family and as such builds upon the already impressive feature set of previous Droid phones. While the phone lacks 4G LTE capabilities, it is a great phone for those not as concerned about mobile speed, those who travel out of country, or those who are in areas that are not likely to see 4G LTE in the next couple of years.
The HTC Evo 3D was only the second portable device and first-ever phone to allow for glasses-free 3-D viewing. Also, with the ability to record in 3D, and then mirror that content to a nearby 3D television or HDTV, and launching on Sprint’s speedy 4G network, HTC has an instant hit on their hands. With a large 4.3 inch 3-D qHD 960 x 540 pixel resolution display, both 3-D and 2-D viewing is top notch.
Running on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, the HTC Evo 3D is perfect for consumers who enjoy streaming video, and generating their own video memories and viewing them in 3-D. And as with all Android operating systems, your web browsing experience is enhanced with full Adobe Flash media player support.
When asked if his children owned iPods, Bill Gates found the question amusing and simply stated they were Zune users. This type of brand loyalty is usually important to companies showing the world how they feel about their own products. It doesn’t seem to be the case with Google’s executive chairman who seems to have been caught in public snapping photos with his trusty Blackberry.
Blackberry fans are snickering and Android fans are shaking their heads after finding out that Eric Schmidt, Google executive chairman and former CEO, was seen in Indonesia sporting his BlackBerry Bold 9780. Perhaps a one-time occurrence could be chalked up to testing out the competition but this wasn’t the first time. Back in 2009 he was caught using his Blackberry Curve 8900.
Motorola Mobility saw a disappointing quarter and projected an even more disappointing outlook, but it did say that it had some new smartphones coming which observers say could revive its prospects.
The company did break revenue predictions, posting seeing a rise of 28 percent in the second quarter to $3.3 billion, yielding EPS of 9 cents per share. Analysts on average were expecting $3.12 billion in revenue and 6 cents per share in profit.
But for the current quarter, the company said earnings may be in a range from breakeven to 10 cents per share. That is below the average 24-cent estimate. For the full year, the company sees 48 cents to 60 cents per share, below the average 71-cent estimate.
Samsung Galaxy S 2 posted a new milestone as it recorded sales of 5 million units in 85 days.
The slim beauty which is yet to arrive in U.S. was earlier reported to have reached sales of 3 million units in 55 days.
Boy Genius Report showcased pictures of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S 2 on AT&T. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy S 2 currently listed on Samsung website the leaked photos shows a device with sliding QWERTY keypad.
While the Galaxy S 2 juggernaut continues to roll, there is a powerful phone in Motorola’s camp which is due to arrive by July 31, which has the potential to stop Samsung smartphone’s unabated march.
During Motorola’s quarterly earnings call today, CEO Sanjay Jha was surprisingly candid about the company’s upcoming products. He not only confirmed the timeline for the much anticipated and long delayed Droid Bionic, but he also revealed that the company has planned two new 4G LTE tablets to hit the market before the end of this year.
Recent rumors have suggested a September 1 launch for the Motorola Droid Bionic, which is expected to land on Verizon’s 4G LTE network. Jha confirmed the September time frame for the Droid Bionic but also adds that they have at least one other 4G LTE smartphone planned for this year. Additionally, the Webtop interface for the Atrix 4G could get some enhancements before the end of the year as well.
Apple’s next flagship phone, the iPhone 5, is rumored to arrive in September — and the Galaxy S2 for Samsung, Droid Bionic for Motorola and Sensation 4G for HTC are also expected to play major roles as the smartphone wars heat up this fall. That competition will serve to benefit the consumer, however, as smartphones are now getting increasingly better specifications.
The latest entry is Sony Ercisson’s first dual core smartphone, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Duo. It’s the company’s flagship device for the remainder of this year.
